LANTERN SAFETY
Theatre Lanterns are designed to light stage areas, as such they are fitted with high power lamps and the following safety points should be observed;
- The lanterns will become very hot during use.
- DO NOT COVER ANY LANTERN or OBSTRUCT THE LENS
- The lightbeam is also Hot
- DO NOT PLACE ANY MATERIALS WITHIN THE SAFETY ZONE;
- 500W Lanterns Minimum clearance 1M
- 1000W Lanterns Minimum clearance 1.5M
- NB. See minimum clearances specified by the manufacturer of your Lantern.
- When focusing a lantern use protective gloves.
- Stage Lanterns MUST be tested for electrical safety, but the operator should
inspect the lantern before use.
If there is any sign of damage
- Always isolate supply before attempting to service or move a Lantern,
- ALWAYS UNPLUG THE LANTERN AS A DIMMER WILL HAVE VOLTAGE PRESENT EVEN WHEN THE CHANNEL IS OFF
- Ensure the lantern is correctly installed, most lanterns are designed to
operate with the lamp base down.
- MAXIMUM ANGLE UP OR DOWN 85 DEGREES FROM HORIZONTAL
- Ensure a safety chain is fitted to the Lantern
- When Using Gobo's The gobo will become red hot.
- LEAVE TO COOL BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO REMOVE
- Before using any equipment that you have not previously operated ask a qualified technician to demonstrate the equipment and explain its safe use.
