SELECTING YOUR LANTERNS
- FRESNEL SPOTLIGHTS
- These soft edged spotlights have a widely variable beam width. Barndoors are used to shape the beam as required.
- PEBBLE CONVEX SPOTLIGHTS
- Brighter at narrow angle with less scatter than a fresnel. Can also be used with a barndoor.
- FLOODLIGHTS
- These lensless lanterns are used for lighting cloths, door backings etc., according to size. They give a fixed angle of beam spread.
- BEAMLIGHTS
- These lensless types provide a dominant shaft of light where brightness is more important than beam control.
PAR 64 lanterns give an oval beam.
- PROFILE SPOTLIGHTS
- These are hard and variable edge spotlights and have four beamshaping shutters, making them particularly useful for front of house work.
The Minuette, Zoom and Silhouette ranges have zoom lenses to give variable angles between the limits shown.
All profiles can be used with an iris, to reduce the beam to a very small spot and with Gobo's, to project patterns and images.
- FOLLOWSPOT
- Followspots are supplied with a stand and colour changer, they are usually based on a profile spot but are fitted with an iris. They are used to highlight areas on the stage ie Solo performer or as a fill light to aid the front of house system.
NB discharge lights are often used to give a better throw as they are brighter than incandescents. However they can not be dimmed electronicaly and require a mechanical dimming system.
- INTELEGENT LANTERNS
- These lanterns use DMX control and will have several functions including Colour change, Gobo Change, and/or Movement. Additional features are available on some units including Strobe, Dimmer,Iris and focus.
